What People Are Saying About The Defense Never Rests
“This book is an excellent read and a ‘must’ on any Hockey fan’s list. Dowbiggin provides many stories of the Hockey Czars that made up the old six team league, the players and the coaches. Underlying all of this is the vilification of a league whose owners kept their players under thumb and underpaid while collecting huge profits with the support of the National Hockey League Players Association and Alan Eagleson who headed the Association. There is a lot of great background to the many star players mentioned from the 40’s through the 70’s.
In my opinion, Dowbiggin gets a little long winded on the pension plan and its intricacies near the middle of the book but otherwise its a great read.”
